Google Meet has crossed the mark of 50 Millions downloads on the Play Store.The Google Meet which was available for only G Suite .Meet was made free for everyone few weeks back,
It is a huge increase in User base for Google Meet as the world is facing Corona Virus Pandemic and many Countries are under Lock-downs.Many schools are opting for E-Classes for its students.The companies are having Video Conferencing with the employees,It is in fact, a warning bell for the Zoom which is Chinese video conferencing App.But Google still lags behind the Zoom.The Google is trying to bank on some security lapses which surfaced recently in the Zoom App.
Now,anybody who has got Gmail Account,can log in and use the Google Meet.The Google has added some features in this App-AI Based Low Light mode,tab based focused mode and noise cancellation feature.User can also place video calls from inbox of Gmail Account.
Meet also comes with features screen sharing,real time captioning,simple scheduling, layouts adapting to user's preferences.
Google has added Safety features
- Meet does not allow anonymous users without Google Account to join meetings created by individuals.
- Host Controls such as to admit or deny entry to a meeting,remove or mute the participants,if required.
- Complex meeting codes
- Meeting videos are encrypted in transit and all recordings can be stored in Google Drive in the encrypted format.
How to use Google Meet
If you have a Gmail Account then it is very easy use the Meet.You can find Google Meet Section in Gmail Account.In this section,you will see two options"Start a meeting and Join a Meeting"..You can start video chat by selecting either option.You can download Google Meet App from Play Store.
Conclusion
The Google Meet is simple to setup.Over 100 users can participate in the meeting.The video meeting duration can be 60 minutes. Google allowing more conference time above 60 minutes till Sept 20.
